Abstract
Chesapeake Bay Conservation and Restoration Map Stories
Track: Conservation
Authors: John Wolf
The success of the Chesapeake Bay restoration effort is tied to our ability to communicate complex scientific and resource management issues to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences. The Chesapeake Bay Program (CBP) has been employing the Esri story map approach to addressing this challenge. The story maps initiative has provided a topic driven approach to showcase the role of geography in Bay restoration and watershed conservation. Although many of Esri's initial story map templates have focused on a non-technical or public audience, the templates are generic and can be adapted to any number of topics and purposes.
This presentation will demonstrate the use of both off-the-shelf story map templates as well as custom story maps leveraging additional functionality to communicate Chesapeake Bay-specific messages. Highlighted template functionality enhancements may include feature service and geoprocessing service integration and the better integration of maps and non-maps in the same interface.
