Abstract
Preparing for the Genomic Data Deluge of Personalized Medicine
Track: Health and Human Services

As low cost genomes become pervasive, health care IT administrators will be asked to integrate patient genetic data into electronic health records. The amount of data and associated annotation will be staggering.
Fortunately, researchers world wide have standardized on organizing genomic information by it's location within the genome. By converting the chromosome number and base pair location information into an X,Y coordinate, Health IT Administrators will be able to rapidly deploy secure dynamic genomic maps within thier organization. In this presentation we'll demonstrate how the use of GIS will help facilitate the cost efficient delivery of molecular diagnostics at the point of care. We'll also describe strategies for managing genomic annotation and patient consent across diverse user groups. A health care facilities GIS infrastructure can be re-commissioned for the deployment of personalied medicine.
