The West Harris County Regional Water Authority (WHCRWA) was created by HB 1842 and approved in the 77th Texas Legislature in 2001 with the primary purpose of acquiring surface and groundwater for residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural uses, reduction of groundwater withdrawals and conservation, preservation, protection, recharge and prevention of groundwater waste for control of subsidence within the western region of the greater Houston area. Dannenbaum provides program management for water system design and construction and has developed and applied an Internet GIS application that utilizes ESRI's ArcGIS Server and Microsoft SQL Server to provide Board members, operators, project managers and engineers with a single operating picture of the region's surface water distribution system. The application stores water system infrastructure data, easements, contacts, schedules and budgets while providing users instant decision support reporting through a map interface that helps keep the overall program on schedule, within budget and maintained.
