GIS to the Rescue: Tornadic Event in Northern Kentucky

The local GIS worked with building officals and FEMA to assess field damage to homes that were hit hard by a tornado on March 2, 2012. Using the GIS to locate buildings that were no longer there, and aerial imagery to show changes in the landscape proved to lead to rapid response from insurance companies. This effort helped citizens to start putting their lives back together and pulling together as a community. Learn tip and lessons learned during a crisis situation that paid dividens in the end of local tax payers.
