Abstract
Spatial Data Infrastructure for Environmental Protection: Sierra Leone
Track: Aid and Development
Authors: Sean McCabe
In order to appropriately manage the social and environmental impacts of large scale land acquisition for agriculture and mining in Sierra Leone, it is imperative that all stakeholders utilize spatial data technology. However, a recent research mission revealed that cooperation and communication between existing spatial data collection projects was almost non-existent. The consequences of such siloed data initiatives could have the potential to undermine the country’s fragile stability.
