Regional patterns of adolescent substance use in the United States

This study aimed to visualize and subsequently analyze patterns of substate region substance use among adolescents in the US. Using data from the 2008-2010 National Surveys on Drug Use and Health, Hot Spot Analysis was performed in ArcMap 10.1 to identify significant regional clusters of adolescent substance use. Tests for association predicting spatially significant high adolescent cigarette use from select demographic/geographic covariates were then performed in binomial logistic regression.
