Abstract
Open-ocean Aquaculture Site Evaluation using ArcServer and Flex
Track: Ocean and Maritime
Authors: Michael Parke
Open-ocean aquaculture holds a great deal of promise to meet the ever-growing demands for seafood in a time of dwindling wild stocks. All large-scale aquaculture operations have potential negative impacts and must address community concerns related to pollution and incompatible uses of coastal resources. At the Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center, we have developed a WWW-based tool that allows aquaculture businesses, regulators, and community groups to evaluate potential sites.
