Abstract
Land Capability Potential Index for the Lower Missouri River Valley
Track: Conservation
Authors: Kimberly Chojnacki
The Land Capacity Potential Index (LCPI) provides a systematic index of wetness potential and soil moisture-retention potential of the valley-bottom lands by combining the interactions among water-surface elevations, land-surface elevations, and the moisture-retention capability of soils. The LCPI provides a mechanism to assess the long-term suitability of land for various uses based its physical properties, to guide future land-management decisions in the Lower Missouri River valley bottom.
