Abstract
Geologic Process Identification Through Landform Analysis

Surface topography is generated by geologic activity, typically by tectonic forces. Using Raster Calculator, Focal Statistics and other tools to highlight tectonically generated topographic features on a DEM allows the user to (1) identify areas of high seismic risk, (2) differentiate landforms generated by tectonic forces from others and (3) check the accuracy of previously published fault location data. These techniques are useful for both geologic mapping and hazard analysis applications.
