Abstract
Streets Made for Walking! Prioritizing Pedestrian Improvements
Track: Urban and Regional Planning
Authors: Kim Voros, Beth Rolandson
One of the biggest questions a transportation planner is required to answer is what gets built, and in what order. Having a clear, data-driven approach is a critical component of the Santa Monica Pedestrian Action Plan. The Pedestrian Suitability Index (PSI) analysis quantifies where people live, work, play, learn, and access transit. It is used to develop a list of geographically-informed improvements and guide implementation priorities.
