We examine factors associated with utilization of eight types of information and communication technologies (ICTs) at the level of US states. ICT utilization variables are spatially analyzed to determine extent of clustering. Regression residuals are examined to eliminate spatial bias. Societal openness, urbanization, and ethnicities are significantly associated with higher ICT uses. We report interesting findings for use of Facebook and Twitter. Policy implications of the study are discussed.
