Abstract

Small Businesses, Huge Economic Impact
Track: Economic Development
Authors: Joel Mahoney

Economic Development often centers on large capital investments. GIS-enabled small business support has not been a core economic development function, leaving entrepreneurs with few tools to access, interpret and understand existing City policies.

When presented in standardized, machine-readable formats, GIS data allows staff and third parties to develop new tools to empower economic development, increase intake functions and provide location specific feedback to entrepreneurs.
