During the past four decades, land use/land cover (LULC) changes have taken place in Munessa-Shashemene area of Ethiopia. This paper analyzed causes of these changes. Using GIS analysis and visualization of the causes was performed. The result shows 15 causes that have been responsible for changes. Among which, population growth and cropland expansions have played a significant role. These results provide a reference for formulating policies and management strategies for sustainable development.
