Abstract
Using ArcGIS to predict coastal flood risks
Track: Disaster and Emergency Management

Engineers predicting coastal flood disasters use conventional methodology to enter data. This can be subjected to human errors, data size limitations in addition to the amount of time needed to process. AMEC has developed a new coastal tool built within ArcGIS to model areas risked by coastal flooding. Several ArcGIS algorithms used to build all the rasters, surfaces and shapefiles. Computation results are clearly displayed within ArcGIS to facilitate analysis and mapping of flood hazard areas
