Abstract
GIS Updates for Next Generation 9-1-1 in Washington State
Track: Computer-Aided Dispatch and 911
Authors: Dan Miller
Over the last year, the State of Washington has made progress, albeit slow, toward the goal of meeting the GIS requirements for “Next Generation 9-1-1”. With 39 counties and ~69 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs), trying to get everyone on the same sheet of music is a challenge. More and more 9-1-1 calls are being made via cell phones presenting a problem for 9-1-1 call-takers and dispatchers to accurately locate the person making the call.
