Use of Government Land Office Surveys in Tribal GIS Land Managment
Track: Tribal/Indigenous GIS Programs
Authors: Dustin Holt
Government land office surveys (GLO’S) are part of the official record of the cadastral or rectangular survey system throughout the American West and played a major role in the development of the United States and tribal lands. GLO’s are historical, but they can still be a significant tool for the GIS professional in tribal land management and mapping. This presentation covers: acquiring, organizing, and using GLO’s in a modern tribal GIS office.
