Landuse is the key to balance urbanization and modernization agriculture with environmental sustainability. L-THIA is an efficient assessment model based on GIS that simulates the impacts of different decisions about land use change on water resources, i.e., long-term runoff and non-point source pollution. An automatic calibration system was introduced for the model parameterization based on regional and local watershed conditions to improve the accuracy and leverage today’s GIS capability.
