Abstract
Global Forest Watch (GFW) – Display Near-Real Time Forest Cover Loss
Track: Conservation
Authors: Sarah Lake, Manuela Rayner
Global Forest Watch (GFW) is a new initiative at WRI that includes a number of partner organizations, including ESRI, that harnesses GIS and satellite imagery data to monitor forest cover loss in near real-time. GFW partially employs a suite of ESRI tools to make data publicly available for overlay and manipulation for targeted users. This data can then be used to identify spatial correlations between user data and other relevant global layers, such as protected areas and annual forest loss.
