Abstract
Remote Sensing Techniques for Assessing Flood Damage
Track: Disaster and Emergency Management
Authors: Joseph Peters
In September, 2013, Boulder County, Colorado, experienced a major flood event. Due in large part to the steep topography and narrow canyons that comprise the western portion of the county, many areas were left inaccessible in the wake of the flood. This presentation will demonstrate how remote sensing techniques can be used to assess road damage, delineate flood extent, and determine where landslides have occurred in areas that are inaccessible to emergency response personnel.
