In order to inform floodplain management, the condition of an 18-mile reach of the Yuba River (CA) was assessed by combining remotely sensed and field survey information with GIS mapping of historical and current vegetation. The results of the study are currently being used to determine the effect of upstream releases on the rate of vegetative recovery in the floodplains, and what restoration efforts could be beneficial.
