Using GIS to create efficiencies in Statewide water quality policy

The California State Water Resources Control Board is in the process of improving the accessibility of water quality data (i.e. water quality objectives, beneficial uses, etc.) residing in their Basin Plans. In order to achieve this, extracted information is being transferred to a standardized geospatial format and linked to surface water features. This will insure that applicable Basin Plan requirements for a particular water body can be determined in a more efficient manner.
