Abstract
Modeling global, urban, and rural exposure to climate-related hazards
Track: Disaster and Emergency Management

Objectives were to develop an automated method using Model Builder for estimating the relative risk of the population exposure of countries to the climate-related hazard events cyclone, drought, and flood; differentiate exposure of urban and rural populations using spatial analysis and aggregation techniques; and calculate and present the results of exposure scores and ranking of countries based on the country-wide, urban, and rural population-weighted exposure to cyclone, drought, and flood.
