Abstract
Safest Path for Bicyclists. How to Model Secure Routes in Urban Areas
Track: Network Analysis
Authors: Bernhard Zagel, Josef Strobl
Almost all available routing applications were focused primarily on the needs of car drivers. Bicycle routing applications are still a niche phenomenon. A new way to consider the specific needs of bicyclists in a segment-wise suitability assessment has been developed. An indicator-based assessment model has been developed with ArcGIS Modelbuilder and evaluated with Network Analyst. For the first time infrastructure, security and comfort are explicitly addressed in a global assessment approach.
