Abstract
Getting Started with Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and GIS
Track: Aviation
Authors: Steven Hick
If you are going to work in the GIS profession, use GIS technology, or collect and process spatial data, you will be flying or using an Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). There are many challenges that lie ahead in the UAS/GIS industry. It is important to understand the National Airspace System (NAS), weather, and how to keep your UAS flying. We will discuss integration of UASs into the GIS environment and identify regulatory, physical and logistical limitations of flying UASs.
