Utilizing mobile devices for data collection can provide significant advantages over paper-based methods. This project examined the advantages of using ArcGIS online for collecting rainfall data from gauges on a Southeast Texas farm. Using ArcGIS Collector resulted in a faster, more reliable means of collecting high quality data as compared to the paper-based method. The result is a cost efficient means of data collection that presents additional opportunities for real-time data collection
