Abstract
A GIS Approach to Predict Potential Fishing Zones
Track: Ocean and Maritime
Authors: Nathan Hopper, Lauren Odum Boring
This study coupled fishing habitat information with GIS methodologies to predict potiential fishing zones forward in time. The probability predication analytics are multi-dimensional 4-D analytics that consider influences such as water temperature, salinity, and chlorophyll and distance from shore and water depth (habitat preferences) of every individual species over depth and time. The resulting map contains probability of occurrence values for all commercially viable fish species.
