Spatial Correlates of Birth Outcomes in Ohio

We employ spatial statistical analysis and record-level data from Ohio birth and death certificates to identify hotspots of infant mortality, low birth weight and other birth outcomes of interest, and correlate these with social determinants of health. We hope to employ emerging hotspot and grouping tools to measure the impact of neighborhood-level interventions designed to reduce adverse birth outcomes.
