Stroke is the leading cause of serious, long-term disability and the third leading cause of death in America. Timely access to proper care at designated stroke centers can vastly improve outcome and reduce mortality. Using ESRI’s Network Analyst and ArcGIS API for Flex, the CML built a comprehensive web-based modeling tool that evaluates access to stroke care. The tool allows researchers and decision makers to build and modify hospital systems using ad-hoc or optimal placement.
