Forecasting Burglaries Using Near Repeat Victimization

“CriPA” is a research project to forecast future burglary locations using ArcGIS and data mining tools in R. The application under development will notify law enforcement agencies whenever analysis of a recent burglary event reveals to be likely a near repeat of a previous event. Several triggers of these near repeat pairs are being compared to detect patterns and thus serial offenders. Based on the results, law enforcement agencies can deploy resources where and when they are most effective.
