Automated Mapping of Distribution Routes Using Python

Fastenal operates a distribution network of approximately 2,700 stores and 14 distribution centers, primarily in North America. For the US and Canada locations, the manual process of mapping 1,400 truck routes has been automated in a Python script, resulting in a significant (90%) reduction of mapping time. Originally developed to automate the production of large wall maps, it turned out to be a valuable tool for the analysis of any selection of routes.
