Funding for schools in Iowa is determined by a funding formula that is difficult to understand and explain to legislators. The LSA is using ESRI Story Maps to help interested parties understand how the formula works. Legislators are concerned about school districts in their area and how policy decisions may affect their districts. Viewing the information visually on a map and being able to explain what the person is looking at is very powerful when trying to understand school funding in Iowa.
