Ending Childhood Hunger in the Summer
Track: Human Services
Authors: Traci Mouw
The Summer Food Service Program is a USDA program that feeds hungry children nutritious meals when school is out. Numerous logistical challenges exist in this Program due to school closures in the summer. The Food and Nutrition Service Capacity Builder Tool allows any community to identify areas of need, gaps in meal service and identify potential partners to fill those gaps. The tool can be used in real time at planning meetings and for mid-summer assessments.
