Effectiveness of CCTV in deterrence and prevention of crimes, Israel

Violence in Israel has become a major factor in the decreased sense of personal security felt by citizens and impaired quality of their life. The Research Department in MOPS aims to help optimize and evaluate the CCTV network in local authorities. Review of academic literature paints a mixed picture about the effectiveness of the CCTV system in reducing crime. GIS tools, such as 3D and Spatial Analysis, allows us to evaluate the current CCTV locations and set new locations of future cameras.
