Leveraging GIS to Reorganize Fire Protection and Emergency Response

We received an application to create a 4th fire agency in the Bear Valley of San Bernardino County. By using GIS we illustrated drive times for surrounding fire stations on various scenarios based on emergency response guidelines. The findings identify that the creation of an additional agency would not increase service delivery and that annexation to a neighboring agency would benefit the community. GIS was helpful in allowing the decision makes to visualize the effective delivery of service.
