Application of GIS Interpolation in assessment of a gold tailings dam

This study focused on the distribution patterns of trace elements of potential threat to the environment and assessed the oxidation trend within the tailing dam. IDW Interpolation was used to determine the distribution pattern and identify the oxidation trend of the tailings dam and area of economic importance. SiO2 decreases downhole, as clayey materials increases. The first few meters show depletion in sulphides.The IDW interpolation assists in further assessment program.
