Abstract
GIS as a Tool for Habitat Restoration Planning on an Urban Golf Course
Track: Conservation
Authors: Tania Homayoun
The Trinity Forest Golf Course, built on a former landfill in Dallas, TX, is the future home of the Byron Nelson Championship. Aided by map-driven analyses, Audubon Texas developed a habitat restoration plan for the site that serves the structural and aesthetic needs of the golf course, identifies ecologically sensitive and optimal habitat zones, and creates 70 acres of rare prairie minutes from the city center. These maps will provide a foundation for adaptive management of the site resources.
