VDOT MS4 Target Modeling Utilizing GIS and Mobile Applications

VDOT created a GIS model to predict locations on 21,330 miles of Virginia roadway within 15 Census Urban Areas where storm water is most likely discharged from the VDOT storm sewer system (pipes and ditches) into waters of the US as required by the MS4 permit. ArcGIS Collector is used to map the outfall points and complete the outfall inventory/illicit discharge screening at the predicted locations and its use has solved previous communication delays and allowed prompt follow-up to problems.
