The proposed PhD research is in the field of health geography, a sub-discipline of
Geography (science). Using GIS the project will focus on geographical variations of
morbidity and mortality in Scotland. The research will investigate
determinants of geographical patterns of morbidity and mortality, especially to what extent there is geographical clustering in terms of morbidity and mortality risks and to what extent the clustering can be explained by spatial
heterogeneity.
