Pasadena Parks department identified a threat to Pasadena’s Arroyo Seco trees in the form of the Polyphagous Shot Hole Borer beetle which introduces a fungus destroying the food and water conducting systems of the infested tree while the beetle’s larvae feed on the fungus. The City of Pasadena partnered with Arroyo Seco Foundation using Collector for ArcGIS to investigate the extent of the problem facing Arroyo Seco trees with the hope of developing a strategy to combat the infestation.
