Using the New York City A1C Registry data, the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has applied two spatial analysis methods, mapping point density and point-in-polygon operation, to identify areas with high concentrations of adults with poor diabetes control and the community resources available in these areas, and to examine spatial patterns over time. The spatial analysis methods can be used to facilitate public health decision making for place-based interventions.
