Assessing Use of GPS-GSM Telemetry to Model Raptor Behavior

Results of equipping 18 golden eagles with CTT GSM back packs over a three year period will be presented. The systems transmit location at 15 minute and 30 sec. intervals. The goal was to move beyond simple range definition. Both geoprocessing analysis versus terrain parameters and geostatistical analysis were used to compare this data to statistical hazard map results from ongoing multi-year field based GIS behavior modeling within the Altamont wind resource area in northern California.
