Abstract
Discovering the Prehistoric Past of the North-East Africa with GIS
Track: Research & Sciences
Authors: Jan Pacina
In spring 2009, archaeological research started in the Sabaloka game reserve, Sudan (the 6th Nile cataract). The research focused mainly on the prehistoric settlements in this area. The surveyed data (archaeological maps) and the Kite Aerial Photography (3D models, orthophotos) are important part of the research as large scale maps are not available in the region. The data are further used for settlement analysis, archaeological sites identification and prehistoric Nile flood modeling.
