Census Redistricting Data: Building Small Area Geography States Need
Track: Statistics
Authors: James Whitehorne
Public Law 94-171 requires the U.S. Census Bureau to provide the states with the small area geography they need for legislative redistricting. The Block Boundary Suggestion Project, a digital geographic exchange program, provides states the ability to modify Census blocks prior to their creation. Learn about how the Bureau and its liaisons provide for the review and modification of Census geography using GIS in order to meet the legal requirement to provide data that meets the state’s needs.
