Using Consumer UAVs and RTK GNSS for Low-Cost, High-Precision Mapping

The use of consumer UAVs for GIS is going to grow dramatically as the FAA rules for commercial use of UAVs are introduced. Their low cost and relative ease of use will make them a powerful tool for generating high-precision GIS data for the ArcGIS environment. When one combines UAV imagery with high-precision GNSS technology, the result is high-precision imagery and point clouds that can be collected at a fraction of the cost with more flexibility than ever before.
