Track: Community Planning and Economic Development
Authors: Travis Rehder
This paper will show how municipalities can use the general public to source data to assist with park and trail maintenance, planning, and future development via Volunteered Geographic Information. A consumer GPS, Python, and ArcMap was used to analyze and compare current data with actual usage. Findings indicate that the VGI data differs between the parks official trails data and how users actually interact with the park. Thus, helping target maintenance, planning, and future development.
