Spatial Analysis of Bicycle and Pedestrian Collisions and Factors

Bicyclists and pedestrians are vulnerable to different types of collisions, in part due to various road types and neighborhood characteristics. The San Mateo County Health System conducted various cluster analyses to identify where collisions occur, comparing primary causes, collision severity, and environmental conditions. By understanding what factors contribute to bicyclist and pedestrian collisions, recommendations can be made to improve the environment, increase safety, and seek funding.
