Efficient Irrigation: Our Mission to Minimize Water Waste

HOAs tend to over-irrigate. Using GIS, we delineated irrigated areas and overlaid it with ground cover. Maps were published to ArcReader to share with other departments. We estimated the water needed to sustain the landscaping. Comparing this to the amount used, HOAs can see how much they could save. Beyond monetary benefits, people will better understand their impact on a critical resource. Water is a limited supply and GIS serves as a tool to help manage the resource and educate the consumer.
