Global GIS Port Risk Assessment Toolkit for Ballast Water Management

GIS can be utilized to create a preliminary risk-assessment toolkit to serve as a decision support system in choosing the appropriate ballast water risk-assessment under the IMO's proposed International Ballast Water Convention guidelines. The toolkit compiled is a port-specific management approach, which uses input risk factor data to identify ports at risk on a global scale using spatial analysis. Topic includes; aquatic invasive species, ports, global scale data limitations, model building.
