Los Angeles Metro Freeway Beautification Program

The project seeks to improve the perception of the LA County freeway system by augmenting Caltrans maintenance efforts in graffiti and litter removal and drought-sensitive landscape improvements. Areas of high visibility were objectively identified using overlay analysis and arithmetic transformations. GIS allowed for quantitative data analysis combined with qualitative input to identify overlapping segments. The final
product was an interactive map, which facilitated interagency partnership.
