Abstract
A GIS-based Delineation and Typology for Local Urban Neighborhoods
Track: Community Planning and Economic Development

The importance of local urban neighborhoods (LUNs) for urban development processes is common sense, however, so far there is no common approach to demarcate LUNs area-wide for cities or regions. Using data of the official German geo-information system a ModelBuilder tool for automated delineation and a LUN typology are developed. This project demonstrates a useful application of GIS in research aiming to support political decision-making in urban planning.
